Many of our clients use mobile welding services available to them locally. However. when it comes to complicated and challenging welding, our clients call us. Our knowledge of advanced welding rods and fillers along with the ability to provide multiple welding techniques, serves us well. Realistically speaking, if we have offered welding services based on 7018 welding rod than we would weld only in London area. And, we would do our mobile welding service on part-time bases.

Most importantly, our certified mobile welder capabilities and specializations are the key to our success. The certified welder’s capabilities and specializations form a core of our customers satisfaction which is paramount for our welding company. You can find more information on our mobile welder specializations on this website in the tags on the right hand side.

Basic differences of our mobile welder’s service

Our standard operation of our mobile welder service differs significantly from operation of other mobile welders or welder fabricators. First, we are certified millwrights and certified welders and we do it full time on daily bases. Therefore, our mobile welder welds also according to millwrights working ethics, and it simply means quality and precision.

This welding company operates full time and none of employees run a part-time mobile welding service. Also, we do not work somewhere else as a welder fabricator or iron worker. Then after work, we do not try to catch a few clients to supplement our main employment income. Again, we do it full time and this is everything what we do on daily basis.

The steady and continues operation gives us advantage over part-timers. The mobile welding, portable welding, fabrication, metal epoxy service, manufacturing and distribution is all we do. This is our livelihood, and we treat it very seriously. From the full-time operation, engineering and millwrighting, stem other standards such as clear communication, proper technology, payment methods, ethics and convenience

Communication

We tend to visit your project and you have to approve our estimate prior delivery of mobile welder service. During the visit, we formulate the most beneficial solution to your project. We also make you aware of different approaches to some of project’s challenges. Even if we respond with our welding unit to the urgent call we first tend to ask for pictures and descriptions. Also, if you provide some basic dimensions prior urgent on-site welding, it would be very helpful.

Simply put, we want to know as much information about welding services needed as is possible. We will provide the Time & Material estimate when we cannot provide you with the total project’s estimate. Under the T & M approach, you confirm on our documents with accuracy of 30 min the time paid. You will sign these documents every day. If you do not like our performance, we do not obligate you to keep us even for one hour longer. We also provide receipts for materials and the estimate of welding consumables. For more information regarding our conduct please visit our home page.

You can text us, email us or call us. As texting is the most comfortable for most clients, we still prefer receiving large drawings through email. We also prefer to provide estimates through email for larger projects with values more than $5000.00

Convenience of mobile welding

Once you accept our estimate then we will send our mobile welder to you. Our on site welder comes on time to your site and texts or calls you that he is on site. Same applies to leaving your project’s site. Our mobile welder must call you or text you to inform you that he has left your project’s site. Moreover, our on site welder & fabricator always comes prepared and well equipped. He has all welding consumables and abrasives necessary to finish your project in the most efficient way possible.

We operate with multiple welding machines specialized for particular welding tasks. Consequently, our mobile welder chooses among 3 different sizes of enclosed trailers pending the project’s requirements. In each trailer we have different welding machines, different auxiliary welding equipment, and different tools. We send each trailer to different welding projects and therefore each trailer contains different equipment.

Our trucks haul different trailers providing different mobile welding services. Our specialized welding equipment is at the core of our efficiency and effectiveness. Each mobile welder is qualified and skilled in operation of equipment and tools located on his trailer.

Payment for mobile welder’s services

You are able to pay with your credit card after our mobile welder completes your project to your satisfaction. Our on site welder generates invoices on the spot. The convenience of paying with a credit card helps us to create a positive cash flow. It also immediately leaves a record of a paid project. It also makes job for our accountant easier and prohibits unpaid invoices.

We run our payment operation similar to a grocery store operation. That is we collect payments for minor projects up to $5000.00 for mobile welder’s services on the spot. However, we also understand that sometimes you need a few days to inspect our work in the field. For updated payment policy please visit our welcome page.

Welder’s Ethics

Ethics of our mobile welder are crucial for our success. Our on site welder always does what we have promised to do, and he does it according to best welding practices. Again, our mobile welder must not cut corners to preserve our reputation of technologically advanced mobile welding company. Here are some of our welding policies:

  1. We do not skip certain crucial preparation steps prior welding such as cleaning surfaces and preheating.
  2. We do not skip tasks after welding, such as weld cleaning, some grinding & polishing, or chemical treatments.
  3. Mobile welder must use welding consumables such as welding rods and wires as we have recommended and agreed to.
  4. Our on site welder does not leave un-welded joints that you are not able to see to save time.
  5. Our welder always take pictures of welded joints . In cases of complicated welds, and large welds, he must take pictures of multiple stages during welding process from all generated welds.
    • if testing/approval of bids is necessary for each welding stage, our mobile welder sends pictures by texting or email and will wait for approval or test results prior next stage welding
  6. The welder provides records of temperature reading during welding processes that require such reading
  7. JW Portable Welding & Repairs does not increase invoices as it is common in the industry. And, we do not enter with the low bid to get the job and then bill you extra on the additions.

You are welcome to leave feedback to us in form of comment on JW Portable Welding & Repairs google profile. You can also contact us on Facebook, and LinkedIn to discuss your next project.

Other considerations in regards to our mobile welder

These other considerations involve:

  1. technological risk avoidance focused on benefits of your project,
  2. planning and being prepared for your project,
  3. efficient use of technologically advanced welding rods most suitable for your project,
  4. ability to weld variety of materials, thicknesses in variety of positions.
  5. setup changes to benefit the quality of generated welds
  6. effectiveness of cutting torch service

Our mobile welder’s avoids risk

At JW Portable Welding & Repairs we strive to provide quality of service in mobile welding services, based on skills, technology, planning and hard work. We believe that the quality of welding in mobile welding services is paramount for your project’s utilization time. Simply put, our mobile welder knows that the way how he / she will weld your project will impact your project, your machinery and your structure, very significantly.

Comparatively to mobile welding services provided by others, we treat quality of welding service as important as quality of welds. For us quality of service means providing a choice for client or project’s manager in terms of welding technologies used in your project and then delivery of these welding technologies in most efficient way possible.

As complicated as it sounds majority of decision making is very simple. The owner always inspects mobile welding projects prior delivery of mobile welding services. And, the owner clearly communicates choices available to the client as well as his recommendations. It is always a client’s choice to select the welding technology and welding consumable pending his /her budget and pending the utilization goals for client’s project. Then the owner’s recommendations are passed to our mobile welder involved in your project. As complicated as it sounds, and perhaps time consuming, such communication structure focuses on avoidance of mobile welder’s mistakes.

Our mobile welder comes prepared

Our a certified mobile welder comes with a technological flexibility suited to your particular project. Moreover, this technology makes us more efficient and more effective, and produces better results. As you know, each welding technique has its strengths and weaknesses. Every certified welder knows it since prior passing welding test they have to practice with particular technology for many, many hours.

In fact, a good certified welder can certainly extrapolate the strengths and minimize the weaknesses of each welding technique. And, our mobile welder knows all ticks of the welding trade to stretch capabilities of welding technologies. However, he very rarely does it unless he is absolutely sure that he will achieve expected results. Simply put, the failures on customer’s project create damages and create ethical dilemmas increasing risks of your project’s failure.

Moreover, such mobile welder’s efforts reduce welding efficiency. And, in many cases, the certified welder’s efforts fail due to technological limitations and elevated risks. These failure happens due to the fact that the certified welder tested in very precisely established and specific conditions, is not able to predict the results of welding in completely different conditions.

Efficiency of SMAW mobile welder from JW Portable Welding & Repairs

For simple projects and cost saving approach we deliver simple SMAW with 7018 welding rods. For slightly more difficult projects requiring pre – heating for moisture elimination and better penetration we deliver controlled temperature preheating with options of wide range pre – heating or more focused preheating.

Furthermore, we offer in SMAW selection of about 80 different welding rods suitable for different mild steel alloys, stainless steel alloys and aluminum alloys. These rods not only offer ability to weld aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel but also change the characteristic of weld. They could improve the strength of weld, resistance to impact, resistance to abrasion, resistance to vibration and resistance to chemically corrosive environment.

Technologically advanced welding rods

The most expensive component in welding business is labour then comes material, then welding consumables and abrasives. Why would you like to save on the welding rods if  you could increase effective live of your project 2x or 3x? So, why not spend a little more on better quality welding consumables?

When we come on board we always ask our client. What kind of welding rod or wire would you like our on site welder to use? We always recommend the welding rods that realistically benefit the project. Not only we select the best welding consumables based on salesmen pitch but then we test them in our shop. In fact every certified mobile welder should test the rods prior striking an arc on weldment. And, we also test them again in very demanding welding environment.

Our certified mobile welders refuse to carry many of welding consumables that have failed our tests. We explicitly weld only with proven and efficient advanced welding consumables.  And, this is precisely the advantage of using JW Portable Welding & Repairs. We only use stuff that works, there is no gimmicks in welding.

Our mobile welder welds variety of materials in variety of thicknesses in all positions

In real life, lack of experience could be problematic for a certified welder who use to weld always same material, in same thicknesses and in same position. Such certified welder’s career will be short and rather unpleasant as mobile welder. The experienced mobile welder must be able to determine which welding technology is best for the project and must be aware about particular technology limitations.

These technological limitations could refer to type and thickness of material, weld strength, welding parameters, warpage, preheating and many others. On top of it, combinations of these limitations also can cause troubles.

Mobile welder changes the setup

In factories the project setup makes welding as easy as possible. The engineer has designed the setup in such a way that certified welder welds with no problems.

The certified mobile welder not only has to predict what setup is best for him/her to do but also what is realistically possible. The mobile welder must be ready to instruct others to help him/her position the project in the best way possible. And position himself/herself in most comfortable position. Additionally, the mobile welder deals with weld preparation and joint assembly.

Here is the link to project with some mechanical twist and with rather untraditional joint assembly.

Surely, in mobile welding we are not only welding popular fillet welds in simple setups. Many of us have to know how to weld U joint or J joint and many others. And, mobile welder has to be able to accomplish them in many uncomfortable positions such as laying on the side, or having severely restricted view, or standing on one leg in a ridicules position. Here is one of these projects.

The experienced certified mobile welder has to be able to predict a few steps in advance difficult welds in a weldment and has to find ways to minimize difficulties associated with this weld. As simple as it sound if you are doing particular weldment for the first time, this things can get very complicated and very fast. Based on my experience, every weldment brings some challenges in the planning phase for mobile welder. This is simply the nature of mobile welding.

Our welder is always ready to go through another welding certification

Our mobile welders are also willing to approach specific welding certification in order to meet the project’s demand. However your project size will have to justify such effort on our behalf. The ticketed welder status on the jobsite provides the suitable recognition, however, your project details will affect the more specific welding preparations and in shop training.

Torch cutting service

A quick torch cutting ability increases the efficiency on any project whether a torch cutting is a supplementary activity or stand alone service. A mobile welder must be equipped with a good quality torch to provide torch cutting service.

In our case, our on site welder is equipped with 2 torches, one for precise torch cutting and the second for demolition torch cutting. Each torch require different torch tips. Our mobile welder carries following torch tips #3, #5, and #7, for precise torch cutting setup. The demolition torch cutting setup includes #8, #10, #14, #20. Our mobile welder use torch cutting as our supplementary task in many of our projects. It happens very often that our mobile welder is called to provide torch cutting service after finishing project sooner than expected. The metal cutting service complements our welding service.

Certified welder on site is an asset – advice for project managers

JW Portable Welding and Repairs provides ticketed welders . Having a ticketed welder on site makes work going smother on many projects. The steel posts and beams are welded on time.

Heaving a certified mobile welder on site makes a huge difference. The mobile welder quickly resolves troubles regarding necessary machinery repairs and eliminates “bottle necks” in your projects. Even if you have our on – site welder for a few hours, he is able to make a huge impact on your project.

In essence, make sure you use his time as efficiently as possible in areas which are the most important for you. Sometimes, in order to increase this efficiency you have to plan ahead and prepare a little prior his coming. With your foreman’s input our welder can park the truck and the trailer faster in place where will not disturb your crew. You could also arrange material to be closer to the welder’s project. Moreover, clamping in place the already cut heavy elements is also not bad idea.

Elimination of fire hazards is a must on any project. Your workers could remove wood, paper, plastics from radius of 16 – 20 feet surrounding the project. Somebody has to do it prior welding, and using your labour will make work of our welder more efficient.

Occasionally, our welder or his helper need help in form of moving some obstacles or transporting additional material, or even with repositioning of weldments. Waiting for these simple tasks will reduce efficiency of our mobile welder.

If you have found additional tasks that will occupy our welder for additional few hours it simply make sense to do it now and save on traveling costs. Especially, if these welds are rather in urgent nature. However, if you plan to keep our on site welder for another day, please call as as soon as it will become obvious since we could have other plans for this welder. I promise we will try to adjust his schedule to your project’s demands as much as we can.
