During this initial call the welder aside of screening calls must classify projects within our expertise into 4 groups:

  • in shop large projects,
  • large mobile welding projects,
  • in shop small projects
  • and small mobile welding projects.

We are focusing on commercial and industrial clients the both categories in both categories of , large and small projects. Therefore our small projects are generally larger than residential projects.

Small projects are rarely inspected on site

The welder informs clients with small projects to text him images, videos and basic description of the project. The welder then analyzes the images and then provides the estimate to the client. If the client accepts the estimate then the welder schedules the mobile welding service or in shop client’s visit. In meantime the welder checks if we have material available for this small project as well as proper welding consumables.

We inspect small projects on – site due to:

  • lack of client’s technical expertise,
  • inability to provide sufficient information,
  • inability to provide accurate measurement,
  • or inability to determine sufficient access to the project.

Additionally, we inspect some small projects on site due to suspicion of fire hazard or presence of other hazardous materials.

Examples of large projects that require on site inspection

We must inspect all large projects prior placement in our shop in Lucan. These large projects usually relate to: heavy equipment repairs, aluminum welding of movable ramps, cracked aluminum structures, cracked stainless steel structures and equipment, and many others.

Additionally, we inspect on site projects of mobile welding and portable welding related to any on site welding of heavy equipment due to necessary preparation work prior our welding. This preparation work’s goal is to eliminate fire hazard on industrial equipment, commercial equipment and construction equipment. In fact, we ask mechanics to remove electrical leads, pneumatic leads, hydraulic hoses from area in close proximity to our welding. We also ask to drain suspicious fluids from farm equipment.

Additionally, we pay attention to presence of plastic parts in close proximity to our welding as well as close proximity of grease. Removal of these fire hazards by your employees reduces the total cost of your project. Please keep in mind that we will have to remove any hazardous parts ourselves if your mechanics will leave them. This alone will increase the cost of your project.

Inspection of OWSJs re – enforcement and on-site fabrication

Any portable welding on OWSJ (Open Web Steel Joist) re – enforcement and on site fabrication must be inspected. These type of projects relate to our longer presence in your facility and our employees interaction and coexistence for the project’s duration. Therefore, aside of traditional hazards related to fumes, fire, and noise, the welder must discuss falls and impact with forklift. The welder must also determine areas for additional impact protection and fire protection.

The welder must familiarize himself with client’s policies, procedures and unwritten rules. Additionally, the welder must know where are receptacles for 120V and 240V as well as where is the electrical panel. For the duration of these projects we will hang the separation tarps surrounding the project area. These tarps will serve not only as protection of your employees against the hazards on our jobsite but also serve as a barrier that your employees can not cross.

Inspection of damages on industrial machinery and industrial equipment

The welder must inspect all damages to industrial machinery and industrial equipment prior conducting welding repair on them. If the damages are severe the welder must be allowed to measure the cracks and take multiple pictures of damaged equipment. In some specific cases the welder will write the report for the client describing the welding repair methodology and step by step procedures process. The report could be modified by client and parties must agree on the final version of the report. The report becomes payable after its delivery. The welder will provide the report’s estimate after the inspection.

Short distance inspection withing London area will be covered by a standard fee to reduce the impact of rising fuel prices. This practice will also reduce our time devoted to clients who are shopping for a bottom line prices or do not intend to do the project due to lack of budget. The inspection fee in London’s area in present year is visible in owner’s signature.

The long distance inspection outside of London’s area will consist of 2 components: time traveled and consulting fee per hour. The time traveled is measured by google’s map and covers the time traveled from center of London to the client’s location and back to London.
